Santander's airport is about 7 km from the centre, with bus S4 linking it to the bus station in 15 minutes or so, from 6:30 to 23:00. Travellers with a dawn flight or an evening already planned can stay right opposite Valdecilla Hospital, just minutes from the terminal; those who want the centre on their doorstep choose between the station area and Plaza Pombo, in the heart of the city, or the seafront near Centro Botín, with El Sardinero and its beaches a walk or two bus stops away.
