Tivat Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Tivat airport is practically inside the town and serves the whole Bay of Kotor: Kotor is 7 km and 15-20 minutes by taxi away, Budva 19 km and 30-40 minutes, Herceg Novi over 30 km. For those staying only in Tivat or Porto Montenegro, staying in town is almost always the better choice: the transfer from the terminal to the centre is never more than 10 minutes, so there's no need to pick an 'airport' hotel even for early-morning flights. Those aiming for Kotor or Budva gain the atmosphere of the historic centres, but add half an hour or more to the journey, worth bearing in mind especially in high season, when traffic along the coast gets heavier.

City centre · Tivat centre and the Porto Montenegro marina are within 3-4 km of the terminal, 5-10 minutes by car or taxi; a few more secluded addresses further south along the coast reach up to 7 km.

Best for: Those who want the Porto Montenegro marina, the restaurants downtown and a transfer of just a few minutes to the airport, whichever hotel they choose in town.
