Wuhan Tianhe International Airport: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Tianhe airport is about 25-26 km north of Hankou, connected to the centre by metro line 2 in 40-45 minutes to Jianghan Road. For dawn departures or one-night stopovers, two international chain hotels are just metres from Terminal 2; those with more time prefer instead to head straight down to Hankou, on the Yangtze riverfront.

Terminal 2

At the airport · The Crowne Plaza is about 50 metres as the crow flies from Terminal 2; the Holiday Inn is 100 metres away, with a free shuttle between T2 and T3.

Best for: One-night stopovers and dawn departures, for those who want to walk to check-in.

Pros
  • You can walk to check-in, with no dependence on the metro or traffic
  • Both offer a free shuttle to the other terminals
Cons
  • Only the terminal area around: for dinner you stay in the hotel or at the airport
  • Hankou still requires 40-45 minutes by metro, with no faster alternative

Pros
  • Walking distance from the Yangtze riverfront and the Erqi Bridge, with river views from the higher rooms
  • Jianghan Road, Wuhan's best-known pedestrian and shopping street, is just steps away
Cons
  • The transfer from the airport is still about 40 minutes, with no shortcuts
  • A very touristy area, crowded on weekends
