Techo, Phnom Penh: which lounge to choose before you fly

Techo, which has been operating since November 2025, has lounges that were born together with the airport and carry the signature of the Plaza Premium group. On international departures the choice is between a lounge open to anyone who pays the entry fee, with a strongly Cambodian character, and a higher-tier one with a spa and a rest area. What decides it is your ticket, your budget and how much time you have before boarding.
The lounges are in the international departures area, on level 3 of the main terminal, after security. The Plaza Premium Lounge is in zone H1, the Plaza Premium First in zone J1, on a mezzanine: if you have little time between security and boarding, it is worth factoring in the distance from your gate too. The Plaza Premium Lounge opened on 10 November 2025, together with Techo's first flights, and has an openly Cambodian character: the setting draws on the country's traditional retreats, the staff wear the sampot and the buffet serves local dishes such as beef lok lak and fish amok. You pay to enter by showing the boarding pass for a departing flight, and you can also have a shower.

The Plaza Premium First plays a different game. Besides showers and a bar it has a rest area and a spa with massages, private VIP rooms and cocktails made with local ingredients, in spaces decorated with works of art, including pieces by the designer Bill Bensley. Access is meant for the premium passengers of selected airlines; those who do not fall into this category can still get in by paying, but at a higher price than the main lounge. So how do you choose? For a short stop, perhaps just to eat something local before boarding, the Plaza Premium Lounge is enough and costs less, and its buffet is already a good way to say goodbye to Cambodia at the table. The Plaza Premium First makes sense when you have plenty of time: a massage, a few hours of real rest while waiting for a connection, or simply a more private setting in which to work or take phone calls. The opening hours help you decide too. The Plaza Premium First is the first to open in the morning and on some evenings of the week it stays open longer than the other lounge, so for the earliest and the latest departures it can be the only lounge available. Before you count on paying for entry, compare the up-to-date hours in the table with the time of your flight.
At Techo, then, the choice comes down to time and budget. If you fly in a premium cabin with one of the admitted airlines, the Plaza Premium First is yours and there is no reason to look elsewhere. If you pay out of your own pocket, choose the Plaza Premium Lounge for a stop with a Cambodian buffet and a shower, and keep the First for long waits, for when you really need to rest or have a massage, or for dawn and late-evening flights, when the other lounge is closed.
