Washington Dulles lounges: a concourse-by-concourse guide
Washington Dulles has a lot of lounges spread across several concourses, with a rare mix of airline lounges, credit-card-linked products and lounges shared between multiple carriers. In the Main Terminal, the Capital One Lounge is open to anyone with a boarding pass; in the other concourses, Chase, Air France, Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, Turkish and United all coexist.
Anyone without status or a special travel card can still get into a lounge at Dulles: in the Main Terminal, between the two security checkpoints, the Capital One Lounge is free for Venture X cardholders but also sells entry to anyone with a confirmed flight, plus lower rates for guests. In concourse A, things change: the Chase Sapphire Lounge, shared with Etihad, mainly rewards those with a Sapphire Reserve card paired with Priority Pass, who get in unlimited times with two guests, while Priority Pass-only holders get one free visit a year and then pay; the same area also houses the Air France lounge, which unusually also serves Emirates, KLM, Korean Air and Icelandair passengers, and the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, reserved for years to Upper Class only and only recently opened to Priority Pass as well.
It also serves Emirates, KLM, Korean Air and Icelandair passengers, a wider sharing agreement than usual for a single-airline lounge.

In concourse B, the British Airways Galleries Lounge opens only in the afternoon and evening, timed to the long-haul flights to London, and is reached via a dedicated elevator from the AeroTrain level; the Lufthansa lounge in the same concourse is instead temporarily closed for renovation. Not far away, the Turkish Airlines Lounge accepts Star Alliance passengers from several airlines and, a rare case for an alliance lounge, also those of Qatar Airways, as well as anyone arriving without a reservation or with Priority Pass.
Concourses C and D are dominated by United: the Polaris Lounge, reserved for those flying intercontinental business, offers shower suites and a table service that the airline's other lounges don't have; the three standard United Club lounges are split instead between concourse C, where two of them stand out for natural light and size, and concourse D, the airline's only location on that side of the airport.
At Dulles, the choice depends mainly on your departure concourse rather than the airline alone: without cards or status, the Main Terminal with the Capital One Lounge remains the safest option; with Priority Pass, it's worth aiming for concourse A or B, though the access windows there are often limited; with an intercontinental business ticket on United, the Polaris Lounge in concourse C offers more than the three standard Club lounges. It's always worth checking the hours in advance, since more than one lounge here opens for only a few hours a day.
