Menorca Airport
Airport guide 2026

Menorca Airport MAH

Spain

Minorca Airport is the quietest among the main Balearic Islands, reflecting the island's more reserved and less fashionable character compared to nearby Majorca and Ibiza, much appreciated by those seeking more authentic tourism.

Located about 5 km from the capital Mahón, in a central position relative to the numerous coves and beaches that dot the island's coast.

How to get to Menorca Airport

Menorca is the quietest of the major Balearic Islands even in terms of transport: the local bus connects the airport to Mahón, while car rental is the preferred choice for reaching the island's small coves.

By Car

Those arriving by car follow the Me-1, the main artery connecting the airport to Mahón and continuing to Ciutadella at the other end of the island.

By Train

Minorca island has no railway network: transportation is exclusively by road.

By Bus

The local bus line connects the airport to Mahón city centre in a few minutes, with more frequent services in the summer months.
💡
Tips Given the small size of the island, many visitors choose car rental from day one to autonomously reach the numerous small coves not served by public transport.

Car rental at Menorca Airport

Car rental is very widespread on Menorca, a smaller and quieter island than Mallorca and Ibiza, ideal for exploring independently: Hertz, Avis, and Europcar have dedicated desks at the airport.

Rates are generally more affordable than on the larger islands, even during peak summer months.

Bring your driver's license, ID document, and credit card in the driver's name; book well in advance during peak summer season. Spanish citizens and those from other EU/EEA countries drive with just their national license; for all others, an International Driving Permit (IDP) is generally also required.

Hotels near Menorca Airport

Menorca airport is just 5 kilometres from Maó: bus line 10 takes a quarter of an hour, and a taxi about the same, so even with a dawn flight staying in the city means no real sacrifice. Travellers coming for the harbour and the old town find everything a few minutes from the terminal; those looking for the sea instead can choose one of the coves just outside the city, still closer than the other half of the island towards Ciutadella. In the summer months, with more frequent charter flights, booking ahead in the harbour area avoids being left with no choice.
