Denmark: main airports
Denmark has eight airports with active connections. The main one is Copenhagen Airport, the busiest in Scandinavia; followed by Billund, the historic home of LEGO, Aarhus, Aalborg, Odense, Rønne on the island of Bornholm, Sønderborg and Karup.

Denmark: visa and entry requirements
Denmark is part of the Schengen area: EU citizens enter freely with an ID card or passport, while non-EU citizens (United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia) do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days in a 180-day period. From the fourth quarter of 2026, ETIAS authorisation will be required for nationalities currently exempt from a visa.
Denmark: safety
Denmark is among the safest countries in the world for tourists, with violent crime very rare. The usual precautions against petty theft (particularly of bicycles, very common) are sufficient even in large cities. Weather conditions can change quickly: layered clothing is always a good idea, even in summer.
Denmark: health situation
No vaccination is required to enter the country. The Danish healthcare system is among the most efficient in Europe; for EU citizens, the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) covers urgent care, while other visitors are advised to take out travel insurance with medical coverage, given the high quality (and cost) of private facilities.
Denmark: currency, payments and connectivity
Denmark is one of the few EU countries not to have adopted the euro: the currency is the Danish krone (DKK), pegged to the euro at a fixed rate of around 7.46 to 1. The country is among the most cashless in the world: credit cards and contactless payments (including MobilePay, the local payment app) are the norm even for small amounts, and some businesses don't accept cash at all. For connectivity, the operators TDC, Telenor and Telia sell prepaid SIM cards. For driving, EU citizens use their national licence; others generally also need an International Driving Permit (IDP). The bicycle is a very widespread means of transport, including bike-sharing in large cities.
