Roanoke Regional Woodrum Field: where to stay, areas and recommended hotels

Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport is just 4-5 miles from downtown, about a 10-minute drive, so even for a dawn flight it's enough to choose a hotel near the terminal, in the Valley View Mall area. Anyone who prefers moving on foot among restaurants and the historic Market district does better sleeping downtown. Anyone arriving instead to hike the Blue Ridge Parkway or visit the Mill Mountain Zoo finds a convenient base in the South Peak area, south of the city, a quarter hour from both the airport and downtown.
