A few minutes from the terminal
About 5 km from the terminal, 10-15 minutes by car; the F1 station inside the terminal can't be reached on foot from here.
Best for: Layovers of a few hours and dawn departures, before the F1 is running (the first train leaves around 6:30).
- Just minutes from the terminal, useful for anyone arriving or departing outside metro operating hours
- Lower prices than the historic centre's hotels
- Most hotels with 'Changle' in the name are actually 20-25 km away, in the town rather than near the terminal: the distance needs checking property by property.
- An area with no restaurants or shops outside the hotel
Historic centre and Sanfang Qixiang
The new F1 Binhai Express line runs from the terminal to Dongjiekou in about 55 minutes (opened September 2025, trains every 8-10 minutes); by taxi the roughly 50 km trip takes 50-60 minutes depending on traffic.
Best for: Anyone who wants the historic Sanfang Qixiang district and the riverside, accepting almost an hour's journey from the airport.
- The Sanfang Qixiang district, with its Ming- and Qing-style houses, can be reached on foot or in a few minutes by metro Line 1
- Much more choice of restaurants and evening life than the terminal area
- Almost an hour's journey from the airport even with the new F1 line
- On weekends the alleys of Sanfang Qixiang get very crowded with tourists
