Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport: where to stay, areas…

The airport is about 10-11 km north-east of Ahmedabad's old city, 25-40 minutes by taxi or car depending on traffic and time of day; there is no direct rail link to the terminals. For short stopovers or dawn departures it's best to stay in the Hansol-Sardarnagar area, right next to the airport; those with more time will find the old city and the Gandhi Ashram along the Sabarmati riverfront and on Ashram Road, while the Satellite and SG Highway area concentrates the city's newest international chain hotels to the west.

Airport area · The Ummed is 1.5 km from the airport, on Airport Circle; FabHotel Airport View is about 14 minutes' walk from the terminals, on Sardar Nagar.

Best for: Short stopovers and pre-dawn departures, when it's worth staying right next to the terminal.
