Mexico: visa and entry requirements
Citizens of the EU, UK, US and Canada do not need a tourist visa for stays of up to 180 days.
All visitors must complete the FMM (Forma Migratoria Múltiple), the tourist entry form, generally distributed during the flight or fillable online before arrival. A valid passport is required.
Mexico: safety
Security conditions vary considerably from region to region and from city to city: the main tourist destinations (Riviera Maya, Mexico City in the central areas, Guadalajara, the colonial centres) are generally visitable with the usual precautions, while some border areas and specific regions require greater caution.
Always check your country's updated travel advisories before planning your itinerary, especially for travel outside the main tourist circuits.
Mexico: health situation
Vaccinations against hepatitis A and typhoid are generally recommended; consult a doctor specialised in travel medicine well in advance, also given the risk of dengue in coastal and tropical areas.
It is advisable to drink only bottled water and pay attention to street food hygiene, while still following the usual precautions.
Mexico: currency, payments and connectivity
The currency is the Mexican peso (MXN). The official language is Spanish, with English common in coastal tourist areas.
Since March 2026 Uber and DiDi can no longer pick up within Mexico City airport's terminal: check the designated pickup zones. Official taxis with fixed zone-based fares are the standard at most Mexican airports.
